Rough Amber
This specimen is a piece of rough amber, characterized by its irregular, sub-angular shape and warm coloration typical of fossilized resin. The color palette across the object ranges from a deep, saturated honey-orange to a lighter, more muted yellowish-brown. One primary face of the specimen exhibits a significant degree of translucency; when under direct light, this area allows for the observation of internal structural details, including characteristic conchoidal fracture patterns and various internal stress lines. These features are typical of the brittle, non-crystalline nature of the material. In contrast, the other sides of the piece present a more opaque appearance with a matte, slightly textured surface. This weathered exterior, sometimes described as a natural rind or cortex, shows fine surface irregularities and a lack of the resinous luster seen on the more exposed translucent face. The overall form is naturally occurring, showing no evidence of human intervention such as cutting, grinding, or polishing. The specimen remains in its raw, as-found state, making it a representative example of unworked mineraloid resin.
