Mineral name

Pyromorphite on Limonite Matrix

Description

This mineral specimen features a cluster of vibrant, grass-green pyromorphite crystals set against a contrasting matrix of ochre-colored limonite. The pyromorphite occurs as small, prismatic to micro-crystalline aggregates with a resinous luster, primarily concentrated in a central patch on the specimen's face. The limonite matrix is porous and earthy, showing a range of yellow-brown to dark orange tones with a matte texture. The overall shape of the specimen is irregular and blocky, typical of a hand-sized mineral sample. The boundary between the lead-based pyromorphite and the iron-based limonite is sharp, highlighting the distinct mineralogical phases. No significant post-extraction damage or artificial stabilization is visible, and the crystal structures appear intact within the protective recesses of the matrix.
