This mineral specimen is a substantial cluster of smoky quartz crystals, characterized by a dense arrangement of multiple points originating from a common base. The crystals display a range of sizes, with several dominant macro-crystals emerging prominently from a matrix of smaller, interlocking quartz individuals. The primary habit is hexagonal, featuring well-developed prism faces topped by rhombohedral terminations. The color of the specimen is a translucent, desaturated brownish-gray, typical of the smoky quartz variety. This coloration is uniform across the larger crystals, though varying in intensity due to thickness and internal clarity. The luster is distinctly vitreous, reflecting light sharply from the flat crystal faces. Upon close inspection, the interior of the crystals reveals characteristic features such as fluid inclusions, internal veils, and minor stress fractures, which contribute to the translucent appearance. The base of the cluster is composed of a complex mass of smaller crystals, providing a sturdy foundation for the larger points. The specimen appears to be free of significant host rock or matrix of a different mineral species. The overall condition shows well-preserved terminations and edges, indicating careful handling and extraction.
