Mineral name

Tourmaline (Indicolite) on Quartz

Description

This mineral specimen features several elongated, prismatic crystals of Indicolite tourmaline resting on a matrix of crystalline quartz. The tourmaline crystals exhibit a deep teal to bluish-green color and are characterized by prominent vertical striations along their prism faces. They are translucent to nearly transparent in thinner sections. The quartz matrix consists of white to clear crystals, some showing hexagonal terminations. The arrangement shows the tourmaline crystals intergrown with and resting upon the quartz, a common association in pegmatitic environments. The luster is vitreous across both mineral species. The specimen appears to be in its natural state without significant post-extraction damage.
