Mineral name

Pyrite and Calcite Mineral Specimen

Description

A large mineral specimen featuring a dense cluster of brassy, metallic pyrite crystals intergrown with white to translucent calcite crystals. The pyrite exhibits a cubic to pyritohedral habit with a strong metallic luster, showing some iridescent oxidation in small areas. The calcite crystals are distributed across the surface, displaying rhombohedral forms and a vitreous luster. Small amounts of a darker, potentially greyish mineral are visible within the matrix, possibly sphalerite or galena. The specimen is a complex aggregate of these minerals, creating a high-contrast visual texture between the shiny metallic sulfide and the matte to vitreous carbonate. The piece appears to be a cabinet-sized specimen of significant mass.
